After a Ninjatune Weeked

Friday: Solid Steel in Radost

I came there about a midnight, just on time when Strictly Kev changed with Tuco and started his journey to all kinds of music. He started with funky and nujazz, all good hits and clasical Solid Steel songs. After an hour, he changed it to really hard rock things. I didn't like it, but thats happens with Solid Steel, because it is mainly mix of many many genres. But after this boring twenty minutes he switch to drum'n'base and it was great. All drum'n'base djs should learn from this set, how to mix and play with drum'n'bass. This last half an hour of Kev's set was very good, I danced all the time. Perfect end.

After this, I didn't believe, that bonobo will beat this. I thougt it will be just as good as Kev was. Big mistake. After ten minutes, it was clear that it will be much much better. It wasn't so multi-genres, it was 'strictly' bonobo. All these easy breaks with jazzy/funky/latino background. Or was it foreground? Doens't matter. You just cannot stop to dance. The biggest problem was to find a minute to buy a drink :) After another two hours of dancing, I was totally death and ready to sleep. So I did.

One more things that I want to mention, before I say something about next event is, why I like Solid Steel Nights so much. It is really amazing to watch how all the different people can have a fun on the same party. There are really all kinds of people, from hippies and dreaders to muchos and managers. And of course all ages, from young peoples that should even get a drink to people, that for sure can be grandfathers. And of course all nationalities. This friday I've heard at least five different languages. Simply great place to be and dance and have a lot of fun not only from music.

Sunday: Sperm Show & Cinema in Abaton

This time my timing wasn't so good and I came to Abaton a litle bit to late so I missed start of Mouse On Mars. But it was ok, I've seen enough. They were a litle bit boring. Everything was fine, good sound, nice show, clear songs. But the songs were too hard, too disruptive. Simply they wasn't on the same wave as me.

But I can say exact opossite about Daedelus, he was on the same wave as me. It was amazing, what he did with beat and the themes around. You didn't even recognize that the beat changed completely from breaks to stright beat, sometimes also clasical techno beat. You start to dance immediately during the first song and stop after an hour, very surprised that it's over. The time was just gone. But I have to say that an hour is not enough for a such artist. I don't know if it was because of the line-up, or he prepared shor for just an hour, but it should be longer.

And again one paragraph about a show as a whole. Abaton is great and horrible place at the same time. There is enough place for four stages, but every stage has its own absurdity. For example the stage where Daedelus has played. There are a pillars just in front of the stage with an artist. About three or four meters from him, so the stage it self is big, but if you want also to see something, you have to find a good place.

Sunday: Summary in my chair

Both parties were good. Sperm Show & Cinema was a good final concert of a good festival, but Solid Steel is Solid Steel. For me it's clasic that I'll never miss. And this one with Bonobo was the best I've been to till now. I've hear that Bonobo should have a live concert in Budapest this spring. I'm thinking about to go there. For sure it will be worth the long journey there.
